National Church Library Association Review of ‘Who Made the Morning?’

Who Made the Morning coverThis children’s book was originally published in 1993. This updated edition has been illustrated by Honor Ayres. Little Brown Bird is curious, wondering who it is that made the beautiful morning. She embarks on a quest to find the answer. She eventually asks the breeze who whispers, “Got is the maker of all.” So Little Brown Bird flew off to find God and thank Him for creating such a beautiful morning.

Flying higher and further away from the pleasant morning and familiar surroundings, she becomes lost. The sun sets, night falls and the weather turns snowy and cold. But, when morning came she knew she would find her way home again. Little Brown Bird had discovered a profound secret - God had been with her in all the places she traveled and would care for her always!

Simple text and illustrations convey a beautiful message about God and His profound love and care for all His creations, all creatures great and small.

“Little Brown Bird has one thing on her mind. Who made the morning? This is her quest. Nothing else matters. She flies from flowers to cows to birds to a rabbit and asks each of them her question, but no one can give the answer. Driven to uncover the truth, she continues her search and makes a discovery. Is this the answer that she has so desperately been searching for?

Who Made the Morning? is written for small children and is a captivating story that not only entertains but also teaches important lessons. The story climaxes when she discovers the truth. The beautiful watercolor illustrations clearly portray what is occurring throughout this story. I highly recommend this well-written book. ”

Five-Star Review For Who Made the Morning?

April 13, 2008 - “God is all around us, little brown bird!”

Curious as a child, and just as impetuous, little brown bird just wants someone to explain “Who made the morning”? While most of his friends are just happy to accept it as it is, he really wants an answer. Like many a seeker, brown bird gets so involved in the search he almost loses his way. The beautiful illustrations support this gentle loving story that begs to be read aloud.

Midwest Book Review: Who Made the Morning?

“The thoughtful colorful illustrations add the perfect touch to this picturebook with a resounding religious moral.”

Who Made the Morning is a Christian picturebook that embodies children’s questions about God in a charming storybook format. When Little Brown Bird wonders ‘Who is God?’, her question takes her on journey farther than she’s ever been before, in a quest to learn about and thank the God who made the morning. “‘Did you find God, the maker of all the world?’ asked the chattering birds when she reached her tall, tall tree. ‘Yes,’ Little Brown Bird chirped happily. ‘God was with me in all the places I went and he looked after me. God the maker of all the world is with me all the time, wherever I go.’” The thoughtful colorful illustrations add the perfect touch to this picturebook with a resounding religious moral, highly recommended for Christian children’s libraries.
